Understanding RAMS

2 July 2026 · 5 min read

RAMS combines two documents: a risk assessment covering the hazards of the task, and a method statement setting out the sequence of work.

Read together, they should let a supervisor understand how the job will be done, what equipment is involved and what must be in place before work begins.

When reviewing contractor RAMS, we check that the document matches the task on your site rather than a similar job elsewhere, and that named controls are available in practice.
